Bruce Pearl Picks Up Commitment from Georgia Guard Trae Golden

Bruce Pearl needed to add shooters to his team of explosive athletes. After picking up a commitment from Trae Golden, the clutch shooter for the Atlanta Celtics…Problem solved !!!

Golden is the 14th ranked shooting guard and 72nd ranked player in the class of 2010. He will join his AAU teammate Jordan McRae in helping bolster Tennessee’s perimeter game. While McRae will be asked to provide the Vols with some slashing and penetrating, Golden will be there to knock down the open looks.

Golden had originally committed to play for Thad Matta and his Ohio St. Buckeyes before de-committing and opening his recruitment back up. He was looking at Virginia, Georgia, Marquette, and Pitt but ultimately felt that Tennessee was the best fit.

After losing a commitment from Baltimore point guard Josh Selby in June, coach Pearl bounced back nicely and has put together a really nice backcourt for his 2010 class. With his little guys locked up, Pearl can now focus his attention on the trio of Tobias Harris, Jelan Kendrick, and C.J. Leslie.
