Brandon Knight to Kentucky

Posted on 14. Apr, 2010 by Nolan Shulman in High School

In one of the least suspensfull developments of the day, two time Gatorade National Player of the Year Brandon Knight has decided to attend the University of Kentucky.  Knight becomes next in line in Calipari's growing timeline of elite level point guards.  Dajuan Wagner, Darius Washington, Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, John Wall, and now Brandon Knight.  That's pretty good company to follow.

Knight told the world on ESPNU that the biggest reason for his decision was coach Calipari.  "He's helped past players nurture their talents and get better."  The timeline above makes that statement hard to argue.  He's coached the last two ROY's (Evans is a lock) and this years favorite for the #1 overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft.

The players in place also enticed Knight.  "I felt it was a place that had great players, a great environment, and a place where I can elevate my game.  They have great coaches and great pieces around me already."

Knight joins Enes Kanter and Stacey Poole in Kentucky's 2010 recruiting class.  Stay tuned as more are likely to follow now that Knight is in the fold.
