Tyrone Johnson Leaning Towards Attending Montrose Christian

Posted on 30. May, 2010 by Nolan Shulman in High School

After standing out on Day One of the Nike EYBL in Los Angeles, I caught up with Tyrone Johnson to discuss his plans for next year, his experience with Team Final, and his recruitment.

According to Tyrone, he's currently heavily leaning towards attending Montrose Christian next year.  "Right now it's between Montrose and Oak Hill, but I think I'm going to go to Montrose."

So why is he leaning towards playing for coach Vetter?  " They want me to come in and run the show.  I think it's going to be a great fit for me and they'll help me get better and get ready for college." says Tyrone.

Currently Tyrone is getting ready for the jump to Montrose by running the show for Team Final.  "Coming out of high school where I've got to do everything;  Rebound, score 30 points a game, and lead my team, playing with Team Final has been a real good experience.  Now that I've got great players around me I can be a playmaker and score in spurts" says Tyrone.

Team Final unfortunately missed their flight for session #2 in Houston so they've come to L.A. with a chip on their shoulder and work to do.  "We've come here to go 5-0.  I was upset that we missed Houston, but things happen for a reason.  We've got to go 5-0 and get ourselves back in this thing."

Day One went according to plan, as Team Final ran the table and played with extreme focus and sound execution.  First up in the morning is the Albany City Rocks minus Dajuan Coleman.  If Tyrone continues to be steady with the basketball and limits his mistakes, Team Final has an excellent chance of accomplishing their goals.

Tyrone is focused on his recruitment right now, instead deciding to worry about getting better and figuring out where he's going to play high school ball next year.  That said, Tyrone has interest from Rutgers, Syracuse, Kentucky, Seton Hall, UNLV, West Virginia, and Georgetown, among others.
