Ryerson Lands 6-11 Center Ryan Evans

In search of some healthy bodies to help control the paint, University of Ryerson head coach Roy Rana and his staff hit the recruiting trail and targeted 6-10 Earl of March Center Ryan Evans.  He was their #1 front court priority and tonight they got their guy, as Ryan gave the Rams a commitment.

After exploring his options and taking 4 visits it was the Rams which made him feel the most comfortable.   According to Ryan, "I visited St.FX and Acadia earlier in the year and York more recently.  Ryerson was the place for me because I like the coaching staff, the players, and have a good relationship with everybody.  I think I'm going to fit in perfectly there"

Ryan gives the Rams a big body who will help protect the rim.  He gives them size, skill, and helps shore up their depth.  "In Ryan Evans we have added a foundation piece to the future of our program" said Head Coach Roy Rana.  "At 6-11 he can rebound, block shots, and is emerging as as offensive player.  He will be a big time post player in the CIS and will make an impact on our team from day one.  This was an important addition for our program and brings an immediate upgrade to our depth of talent in the front court."

Ryan says one skill he hasn't been given enough credit for is his ability to pass out of the post and find open guys. "Not many people know this, but I'm a pretty good passer out of the post."  While that's a true statement, it's Ryan's ability to control the rim defensively that makes this such an important get for the Rams.  "They expect me to come in and help right away.  They need help right now and I think my rebounding and shot blocking can help support what they already have" said Ryan.

In a year where the depth at Center isn't as strong as it usually is, this is a huge coup for the Ryerson program.  Having their marquee big man prospect in the fold will allow them to go out and focus on finding a shooter and a wing to round out the class.
