Negus Webster-Chan Has TIGER-Blood

Posted on 07. Oct, 2011 by Nolan Shulman in Canada Spotlight

Another day, another Canadian 2012 takes himself off the board.  This morning 6-6 Huntington Prep/CIA Bounce shooting guard Negus Webster-Chan made his decision official !

According to Negus, "FIrst and foremost I’d like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the game that I love at a high level and to be recognized for it. Secondly, I’d like to thank my mother for her never-ending love and support she has shown throughout my entire life and playing career. Also, I’d like to thank my family for the support and encouragement they have displayed while I've attempted to reach all of my goals thus far."

What was the process like ?  "After visiting with various schools and speaking to a number of coaches, I realized that making the decision on what school I’d like to attend would be no easy task. As the days progressed, it became even more difficult to narrow my choices as there were so many great institutions with quality programs to choose from. I definitely feel blessed to be in the position that I am in. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the coaches that have taken the time out of their immensely busy schedule to evaluate and recruit me. Some of these names include Coach Hoiberg, Coach TJ, Coach Fuller, Coach Willard and Coach Shaheen to name a few. I’d also like to acknowledge the time and effort that Rob Fulford and the coaching staff at Huntington Prep have devoted to me and my development."

So who will it be ??

"In making my decision, it was important that the school I chose gave me the best opportunity to showcase my abilities while playing multiple positions. It was also important for me to have a great relationship with the coaching staff on and off the court. It is my belief that the University of Missouri offers me all of these things I’ve mentioned and more. Coach Frank Haith and his staff have developed a good relationship with my family and myself and this is why I have chosen to become a TIGER at the University of Missouri next fall."

While Negus ultimately chose Missouri, Iowa State and Florida State were also in the mix down the stretch.

With the decision behind him, Negus focus is now on the Express.  "I look forward to competing for a National Championship to cap off my high school career."
