Tonight versus Baylor, Cole Aldrich did little to justify himself as a lottery selection. Against a team with an athletic front line, Aldrich played a very passive game. He scored his baskets in the flow of the game and never looked for his own shot. Aldrich possesses a great basketball IQ and knows how to make himself available in the high post. When the ball was given to Aldrich in the post, he was patient and allowed the double team to present itself before passing it up to an open shooter. His footwork down low seemed a little mechanical but Aldrich spent a bulk of the game on the elbows setting screens for his guards. Defensively, Aldrich has freakish length and used it tonight to force the Baylor bigs away from the basket altering several jumpshots. Rebounding and blocking shots are what Aldrich has become known for but tonight Cole had only four rebounds and didn't block a shot.
