Billed as a heavyweight fight from the opening tip John Wall left the first and last punches. In the opening 3 minutes Wall had four steals all leading to points in transition and a 12-0 game opening run. Kemba Walker like most other guards couldn’t stay in front of Wall. Uconn fought back and took the lead midway through the first half and didn’t relinquish it until Wall decided it was time to take over with about four minutes remaining in the game. Wall scored from long range, with mid range jumpers, on the dribble drive and at the free throw line. With about forty seconds to play coming out of a timeout and Kentucky down a point, Uconn gave the defensive assignment to Stanley Robinson, who is the second most athletic player on the court after Wall and very long. It didn’t matter as JW blew by Robinson drawing contact at the rim, switching hands, knocking down the bucket and the free throw. Game-Set-Wall. Nothing has changed as the unanimous number one choice for the draft, and doing everything to separate himself from any potential suitors.
