With Notre Dame riding high heading into this week's tourney, thier biggest challenge was going to be easing Harangody back into the lineup without disrupting the chemistry that had been established by a late season win streak. Cool hand Luke came off the bench tonight and played 24 powerful minutes, shooting 9-15 from the field. Harangody lead the team and had a game high 24 points while also pulling down 10 rebounds. The Irish won, and all but sealed up their NCAA tournament bid. Pat Riley was observing this affair nearby, and was clearly evaluating Luke judging by the way he was monitoring him as he moved away from the ball. His performance today didn't show scouts anything they haven't seen, however, it cemented the fact that Luke excells running the floor, scoring in transition, and as a face-up four shooting from mid range, and playing strong around the rim.
Coming off of perhaps his worst shooting performance of his career, Luke Harangody bounced back in a big way on BIG MONDAY. Harangody showed the twenty-six NBA scouts on hand that he could score in a variety of ways. Cool hand Luke displayed range out to twenty feet and powered his way around the basket scoring some tough layups. Harangody has a way of separating himself and creating space. He seemed to set up along the baseline right in the gaps of the Syracuse zone, putting himself in great scoring position once the ball was delivered. With rebounding always Luke’s strength (14 on the night-5 offensive) , I was most impressed with how he appeared physically. Harangody, seems to have shed some body fat from last season and looks like he can play the three at the next level. Harangody really proved last night that we has become a true scorer, using spin moves around the basket, floaters, and even the twelve foot fadaway to beat defenders. Over the course of his four year career, Luke has made a successful transformation from an under the basket scorer who got by on brute strength to a crafty wing player who has a full offensive arsenal.
40 MINS, 13-26 FG, 14 REB, 31 PTS
