Raymar Morgan showed the nation how versatile he can really be. One minute, Raymar is on the perimeter locking down a two guard, and the next he is in the paint banging on the glass. Morgan’s athleticism for the wing position in the college game is at the top of his class. Morgan had a hot hand tonight but foul trouble spelled him from the game and the Spartans suffered when he was on the bench. When Morgan managed to stay in the game he attacked the offensive bucket and found himself on the line often. On defense, he was cutting off the passing lanes and starting the fast break. Once in the open floor, Raymar’s ability to breakaway and finish is nothing short of impressive.

I was surprised to see Morgan come off the bench tonight as he had previously been a starter on a team that went to the NCAA championship game. I am not sure what type of lingering injuries Morgan was dealing with but I didn’t get the impression that this was something that was going to stick. When Morgan made his way to the floor it was only for a short while as he got injured. For the twenty-two minutes I had the opportunity to watch him, I was quite impressed. Morgan is sort of the little engine that could for the Spartans. He is very active on both ends of the floor and is always moving. At no point, did I notice him standing flat footed. Morgan can score from anywhere on the floor. He is comfortable banging in the post and he has a pretty consistent shooting stroke to about 18 feet. Defensively, Morgan likes to get up in his opponents grill and make life uncomfortable. I really liked the edge that he played with but it’s most likely the same reason that he is constantly battling injuries.
