One two minute stretch can sum up the type of prospect we're talking about. On one end he blocked a shot by coming across the paint and pinning it on the backboard, then sprinted down the floor and got an offensive put back. Two plays later, he made a 15 foot jumper, got back and made a steal in transition. If that's not enough, he then turned and threw a pinpoint three quarter court outlet which led to a layup for his team. He has a chance to finish top 3 in this class.
There was no player who has risen more in the spring AAU circuit than Davis. Going from virtually unknown on the national level, it appears that he will be ranked amongst the top 25 by virtually every major recruiting service when the next set of rankings come out, and for good reason. Having grown 5 inches in the past year, he still has the mobility of a wing player with the size of an elite big. Despite his John Henson-esque body, he is tough enough to mix it up in the paint and have a major presence on the defensive end. The Chicago native is a bit of a jack of all trades offensively, handling the ball in the open floor, making great passes out of a double team, and hitting turnaround jumpers out of the post. It’s clear that he’s most comfortable as a pick and pop player due to his perimeter skills at this point, though. Word is that Davis has received over 20 offers based on second hand information from his play this weekend.
