Eventhough Patterson’s stats didn’t jump off the page, it was evident tonight just how important PPat is to the Cats offense. In a game that had its share of scoring droughts highlighted by great defense, Patterson was always the guy who scored that first bucket to get the team going. In an amazing transition, Patrick has molded his game for the next level and is spending his senior season showing it off. With some young big men on the scene, PP has developed a mid-range game and has been quite the consistent face-up shooter even expanding his range out to beyond the arc. Patterson can put the ball on the floor and go hard to the net or play the catch and shoot role. Being my first chance to evaluate Patterson this season I left extremely impressed by his summer makeover. At one point in the game Patterson was forced out of the game with an undisclosed injury. With Kentucky, struggling he came right back in and took charge leading the team on a run that brought them back to tie the Huskies. And when push came to shove, PP didn’t forget how to throw his elbows around and play in the paint. His ability to finish with both hands around the rim and knock down free throws in the clutch make him one of the most feared players in the country.
6-15FG, 16 PTS, 2 BLK
