Naz Long Transfers to Findlay Prep

Posted on 18. Aug, 2010 by Nolan Shulman in Canada Spotlight, High School, Interviews

After winning back to back championships with Tristan Thompson and Cory Joseph, Findlay Prep has decided to tap back into Canada to fill the remaining holes in their roster.  After locking up Myck Kabongo to be their lead guard earlier in the summer, and acquiring Anthony Bennett to be a hybrid four man yesterday, Findlay looked to Team Takeover Canada combo Naz Long to help shore up their bench.

Naz is fired up for the challenge and grateful for the opportunity.  Reached by phone earlier this morning Naz had this to say.  "Findlay has a reputation as the best, not only in the US but up here in Canada.  They've got a tradition of winning and getting the W at the end of the season is something I want to be a part of.  I never would have thought seeing Findlay Prep last year in the ESPN tournament that I would be a part of the squad, but push came to shove and now being in the spot where I could contribute to the back to back National Champs makes me motivated and more and more happy each time I think about it."

The excitement is mutual.  According to Findlay Prep Associate Head Coach Todd Simon, "Naz is a mature young man that we look forward to having on our campus.  On the court, he fits our mold as a humble rising talent willing to put the time in."

Naz joins Myck, Nick Johnson, and Nigel Williams-Goss in Findlay's backcourt; a group that could be even deeper than last season.

"I think coming into Findlay the thing I'm going to be most excited about is playing with and going at Myck in practice.  Him being one of the best point guards in the nation and me learning from him will only make me better " said Naz.

Naz is a terrfic combo guard with a knack for scoring the basketball.  He can make shots, gets in the gaps, and is a terrific finisher in the open court.  He's vocal, brings consistent energy, and always has an upbeat attitude.
