BREAKING NEWS: Khem Birch to Pittsburgh

It didn't take long for assistant coach Pat Skerry to reward Pittsburgh Head Coach Jamie Dixon for giving him an opportunity.  He cashed in on a seed he planted while still on staff with Providence.  You see… back then Khem Birch wasn't a consensus top five player in America and coach Skerry wasn't coaching at the countries most consistent program. Providence became Khem's leader and a bond was formed that proved to be a major factor.  Fast forward quite a few months and Coach Skerry has moved on,   now occupying the sidelines in Pittsburgh.  But he's not the only one who's boosted their profile.  Khem has elevated his game and is now considered among the countries elite.  With all the stars properly aligned, Khem gave Pittsburgh a verbal commitment tonight. 

Khem had a tremendous summer which saw his stock skyrocket.   His performances in San Antonio at the World Championship, Cleveland at the King City Classic, and Portland at the Global Challenge were eye opening for those in attendance.  He showed improved body control, showed progress in his ability to rebound his area, and added the skills and toughness to finish at the rim in traffic.   Simply put, Khem has transformed himself into a program changing defensive presence and that has to make coach Jamie Dixon extatic. 

It's official.  The #1 Player in the Canadian class of 2012 is off the board !!!
