Holy Names Star Praises Lancers With Commitment

Posted on 25. Mar, 2011 by Nolan Shulman in Canada Spotlight, High School, Interviews, Media

It was another long, routine day in the gym in early January when the team at Flagrant Fouls suddenly stumbled upon a sleeper named Rotimi Osuntola Jr.   A name we weren't yet familiar with but who's game we were extremely impressed by, we were shocked to find out that the only person who was tracking him was University of Windsor Head Coach Chris Oliver.   As the year progressed and we continued to monitor Junior's progress, he jumped from unranked in the class of 2011 to #39.  We were impressed by his ability to guard multiple positions, his defensive timing, his energy, and his fluid movement.  While his ball skills are still a work in progress, he's a terrific pickup with an extremely high ceiling.

Yesterday, Junior decided to stay close to home and stuck with the coach who had been there since the beginning by giving a verbal commitment to coach Oliver and the Lancers.  "We like players from winning programs and the best compliment I can give Junior is that he significantly helped elevate his team to a city championship and OFSAA calibre level; a level Holy Names had not achieved in a while."

One of the things that stood out to coach Oliver was Junior's work ethic.  "Junior is a perfect fit for our program. He brings length, athleticism, and a passion for working on his game. While he has much work ahead, he will have a seamless transition having been around our program and players for the last two years."

Junior joins Jameson Tipping, a 6-5 guard transfer from Western Kentucky as newcomers to the Windsor program.
